About Married by Miller
Hi, I’m Joanna! I’m a public speaker, writer, singer and actor and have been marrying couples since 2022. I got started with a family wedding and haven’t looked back. A proud feminist and millennial, I marry all couples regardless of age, gender or race in ceremonies within 100 miles of my home in Washington, DC. I grew up in a multi faith household and lived abroad in Australia for a few years, so I can’t wait to incorporate your cultural and religious traditions. I’m married myself, and ended up with an elopement, formal wedding ceremony and separate reception to accommodate our family’s needs. This means I have firsthand experience with all kinds of celebrations and am sensitive to the unique needs of each. I’m ordained through American Marriage Ministries (AMM) and the Universal Life Church, and completed the Business of Officiating course from AMM in 2023. I am also a member of the International Association of Professional Wedding Officiants (IAPWO). In my non officiating hours, I work remotely for a tech company, walk my rescue dog and read obsessively. I’m an alum of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), was a theatre/speech/debate kid growing up and love attending live theatre and music. As a former nonprofit fundraiser, I support the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, Round House Theatre and Generation Hope, among other causes.
